Karen Khachanov admite que le resultó «annoyed» la prolongada rutina de Alexander Zverev al botar la pelota antes de sacar y asegura que no es el único jugador al que molesta el hábito del tenista alemán.
En su tercera semifinal de Grand Slam, disputada en el US Open, el tenista ruso —que llegó al torneo ocupando el puesto número 50 del mundo— compitió de igual a igual, pero el primer cabeza de serie, Zverev, terminó imponiéndose por 6-3, 7-6 (7) y 7-6 (6).

Durante todo el partido, Zverev se tomó su tiempo al servicio y botó la pelota en numerosas ocasiones antes de ejecutar el saque. Khachanov, además, tuvo dificultades para encontrar oportunidades al resto: el ruso solo dispuso de dos bolas de break en todo el encuentro y convirtió una.

En la rueda de prensa posterior al partido, el ruso, siete veces campeón del circuito ATP, se refirió específicamente a los prolongados botes de Zverev y explicó que tanto él como su equipo se habían preparado para esa situación.
"I mean, the way he bounces the ball, look, it annoys not only me, of course, a lot of players, because it takes so much time, really. You don't know how to prepare for the serve. You're ready and then it's another 12 bounces. So you again do split step, you kind of try yourself at every point like that," Khachanov añadió.
Khachanov reconoció que Zverev no infringió ninguna regla
Mientras Zverev botara la pelota antes de que expirara el reloj de saque, no podía recibir una advertencia. Khachanov es consciente de ello.
“So at the end of the day, if it's within the rules, with the time between points, I cannot say anything against that because it's within the rules, you know. So if he extends the time, then he gets time violation. So it's pretty simple as that," señaló el jugador de 30 años.
Con esta derrota, Khachanov queda ahora con un balance de 0-3 en semifinales de Grand Slam.
