“It’s 20 minutes to midnight here, 2 September, it’s my daughter’s birthday, so this is a big present for her. Actually, the dance in the end… she’s going to rate me tomorrow how the dance was because she told me how to dance. It’s ‘KPop Demon Hunters’. ‘Soda Pop’ is the name of the song.

“Obviously, it’s a big thing globally for teenagers and kids, but I didn’t know about it before my daughter told me about it a few months ago. We were at home doing different choreographies, and this is one of them, so hopefully I’ll make her smile when she wakes up tomorrow morning.”

“It is what it is. We predicted that might happen. Yeah, she was not very happy about it, me being absent from the birthday party. Don’t remind me of that, please.

“But I’ll try to win if I’m here. At least I’m going to try to win and give her that kind of present. I’m going to send some nice presents, as well, nice surprises for her birthday party. Hopefully the win can be something she can be happy with. But again, yeah, daddy away and daddy present is a big difference.”

“This is my way of interacting with children after the match, kind of making them happy. These moments I try not to take for granted because they’re very rare and special moments. Very blessed to be able to have my children watch me perform at the Centre Court of Wimbledon for many years now. They’re aware of what’s happening. They follow. It’s a blessing for me.”

“They make my life on Tour easier. The pressures, the expectations, the tensions that you normally go through in a big tournament like this, when they’re around, it lowers a bit so I can have that time off, quality time with my family.

That really soothes me and gives me serenity in order to recalibrate and play my best tennis the next day. I cherish these moments a lot.”

“She was facing me when I was sitting on the bench. And she smiled at me. Every single time I needed, I guess that kind of innocent child energy, I got it from her.”
